May at The Parrish Grove Inn: Celebrating Milestones, New Traditions, and Summer Ahead
May always feels a little magical.
The school year comes to a close, graduation caps fly through the air, and families gather to celebrate accomplishments years in the making. This month was especially meaningful at The Parrish Grove Inn as we hosted several graduation celebrations, including one very close to my heart—my daughter Paige’s graduation party, which she shared with her best friend, Lila. Watching the porches and gardens fill with family, family and joyous stories was a beautiful reminder of why I love sharing this historic home with others. There is something special about having a place where life’s biggest milestones become cherished memories.
We also launched something new this month that quickly became one of our favorite gatherings: our first Mah Jongg Open Play. What began as a simple invitation turned into a lively afternoon of learning, conversation, and connection. Originating in China during the 19th century, Mah Jongg has long been about more than just the game itself. It brings people together around a table, encourages friendship, strategy, and storytelling, and creates a sense of community that spans generations. Those values feel perfectly aligned with the spirit of The Parrish Grove Inn. We hope this is just the beginning of a weekly tradition where both new and experienced players can gather, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.
Another first for the Inn was our Derby Tradition celebration, Roses and Rose. Between the hats, games, mint juleps, and friendly competition, it was a joyful afternoon that brought a little Kentucky charm to Cocoa Village. This year’s Kentucky Derby was particularly historic, with the first woman trainer, Cherie DeVaux, to lead her horse, Golden Tempo, to victory. As a woman-owned business celebrating our own first Derby party, we couldn’t help but appreciate the way traditions continue to evolve while honoring their history. It’s always exciting to witness barriers being broken and new chapters being written.
As we turn the page to summer, we’re looking forward to welcoming families, friend groups, and reunions of all kinds. One of the most exciting additions this season is the ability to book the entire inn as a whole-house rental through Airbnb. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, girls’ getaway, graduation celebration, wedding weekend, or simply looking for an excuse to gather your favorite people together, The Parrish Grove Inn offers a unique place to slow down, reconnect, and make memories.
Summer is arriving in Cocoa Village, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
