June: It Takes a Village to Make it look So Easy!

Five Months In: Building Community, One Gathering at a Time

It’s hard to believe that June marks five months since we opened the doors of The Parrish Grove Inn. Like most new ventures, the beginning felt equal parts exciting and overwhelming. At first, it seemed like Bonny Belle and I were trying to do everything ourselves, but somewhere along the way we’ve settled into a rhythm, found our lanes, and realized something important: this place was never meant to be built by just the two of us.

What has surprised us most is how many people have stepped forward to help shape what the inn is becoming. My sister Jill has brought incredible energy and creativity to events like our Galentine’s celebration and Derby Tradition Party, while our dear friends Jenn and Arianne have graciously dusted off their serving skills to make evenings like Back Porch Uncorked and Pizza on Porch possible. We hosted our first Guac on the Grove this month, serving bold Mexican flavors and cold beer on a warm summer evening, along with our first Singles Night with thursdays event group and a wine education experience in partnership with Rebellion Wine Bar. Every event has brought new faces, fresh ideas, and a reminder that gathering people together is at the heart of what we do.

Perhaps no example captures that better than Mah Jongg. What started as a simple gathering around a few tables has quickly grown into something much bigger. New players continue to join, experienced players eagerly teach beginners, and friendships are forming week after week.

We created the space, and people showed up with ideas. They brought their passions, talents, and enthusiasm, and together they’re creating something far greater than we could have planned on our own. That’s been one of the greatest joys of these first five months.

As we head into summer, we’re excited for what’s ahead. If you haven’t already, we invite you to sign up for our newsletter to stay connected to upcoming events, dinners, classes, and gatherings. And if you’re planning a summer getaway, July is the perfect time to visit Historic Cocoa Village. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, every room at The Parrish Grove Inn is just $250 per night Monday through Friday throughout July. Pair that with our Summer Getaway Florida25 promotion and receive 25% off your second night. There’s something special about celebrating our nation’s history while staying in one of Cocoa Village’s historic homes, and we’d love to be part of your summer memories.
